Description

The Security Consultant will be responsible for providing advice, assistance and recommendations concerning the safety and well-being of the staff, students and property of the Edmonton Public Schools. The incumbent will provide on-site response to schools during emergencies as well as conduct security audits and investigations of illegal activities on District property.

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification
  • Incident Command System 200 (ICS) training
  • Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VRTA) experience is desirable

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Security Consultant is responsible for:

  • assisting school staff in stabilizing emergency situations including coordinating with emergency responders
  • providing a security presence in District buildings to maintain order at public and private meetings
  • liaising with District insurance, legal counsel and Edmonton Police Service regarding investigations of illegal activities such as thefts, break and enters and vandalism
  • assisting school administrators in the effective use of closed circuit television camera systems
  • conducting security audits and providing recommendations to the District concerning preventative security measures utilizing methods such as CPTED
  • providing advice, assistance and recommendations concerning the implementation and administration of Emergency Preparedness Templates and Board Regulations
  • making presentations to school staff, students and District leadership on security related issues as required
